My Art Deco Nursery has come to life!!! Okay now I will be the first to admit I have no design skills. All I knew when I started thinking about this nursery was where I thought the furniture would fit and that I wanted an art deco/ 1920s vibe. So every time I bought something I just looked for a bit of an art deco flair, but didn’t go so extreme so it was over the top. I took a ton of photos and wanted to give you all of the links so I will just link everything that is in each photo below that photo. The challenge for this room was that it is pretty small – about 9′ x 12′ and thats with a chunk of about 2′ x 4′ cut out of one corner where a hallway closet is. Also a full obstacle is that there is no closet. So technically I guess it isn’t even a real room!? Our solution to this was to put up our own closet shelf rod things and just let the world see the clothes – luckily baby clothes are colorful and adorable so it all worked out! The room also had a window that butts up to a wall so for the curtain we could only swing it one way – which I actually think is super fun.
We were thinking of colors from the beginning and knew golds, silvers and blacks had to be in there for the art deco, then a dash of light pink and Matt thought Aqua/ turquoise would be fun too! So for the curtain I knew I wanted a dramatic dark turquoise velvet drape and found a guy on etsy who made exactly what I wanted in New Zealand!! I am obsessed with it and think it really brings the room together because most of it is very light and bright. So let’s dive into the details of this first picture above:

Everything looks beautiful! So happy for you guys!
Thank you!!
What a beautiful and calm place for a sweet baby. I have enjoyed watching your pregnancy updates on Instagram. Good luck in the coming weeks as you getting closer to meeting her.
Thanks so much Trista!!
So beautiful. One thing that saved my back while nursing a baby, was a nursing stool!! It’s a smal angled stool for your feet. Nursing pillows like A boppy or a Brest Friend help too, but the stool was a real life saver. Some even come adujustable so you can get the perfect angle for you. Congrats. Can’t wakt to see your stories of motherhood!!
Love it! We just had our first baby a few months ago and her name is Amelia-so I naturally love your Amelia Earhart print! Also, we have the same changing mat and it’s like my daughters favorite place in the house! It’s so comfy she just loves to lounge there! Best of luck for y’all! Love watching your journey-y’all are going to be the best parents!
Thank you!! I loveeee the name Amelia too!!!
You did a fantastic job! Such a cute room.

Thank you Dawn!!! 🙂
What color are the walls?
They are Frost, a sherwin williams color!
Hi Kelsey,
For the Ikea Hemnes Dresser, did you bolt it to the wall with the tip over hardware? Have you have any issues with it tipping over like it warns about on Ikea’s website. I’d like to get this one for our nursery but not sure that I want to deal with anchoring it or risking it falling. Thanks!
We just added them now that she is out of her crib! But that should happen no matter what dresser you have!
