Whole30 Ketchup! So simple to make and a perfect addition to all those eggs! Paleo, sugar-free and full of flavor!

I have a MASSIVE obsession with ketchup (and now my Whole30 Ketchup!).  I am the person that squirts ketchup ALL over my eggs and scoops as much as possible onto my fries.  A friend of mine in college both had this love and probably took it too far at Denny’s a time or too. Oh college!  But now I am on a clean food path and times had to change!  When I realized that being on Whole30 meant lots of eggs in many forms, I knew I would need to make a compliant ketchup quick!!  Dates are the most beautiful sweet bundles of YUM in the world and I am so happy that are Whole30 approved.  I used them to sweeten this ketchup and was so surprised at how good it turned out.  We ate it this weekend with these Chicken Tenders and some sweet potato fries and it was perfect!  It’s obviously different than Heinz… but it’s more like a super tasty tomato dip… which I think is what ketchup is supposed to be!  Dips/ Sauces are my jam on Whole30 and save your life to have them on hand.   I also add this ketchup in my Clean Thousand Island Sauce that I love to use on burgers!

How Whole30 Ketchup comes together:

The best part about this Whole30 Ketchup recipe is how easy it is to throw together.    You just throw a couple of ingredients in a pan and let it simmer for a bit, then throw it in a blender until its nice and smooth and voila! Ketchup!  I used fire roasted tomatoes in this and it added the best flavor.  You can totally use regular ones though if you have them on hand!

Whole30 Ketchup


Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup chopped pitted date
  • 1 6oz. can tomato paste
  • 1 14 oz. can fire roasted chopped tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika

Instructions

  1. Combine all ingredients in a sauce pan over medium heat and let simmer for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Then pour the mixture into a blender and blend until smooth. Season to taste if needed!
