Chairs

Hello my DIY friends!  Being a homeowner is just lovely.  So many DIY possibilities… it’s overwhelming.  Right when our offer was accepted on our condo, Matt and I were on the lookout for dining furniture.  One day we went on a walk to find some good yard sales and came across these beauties.  Wood chairs with an easily removable cushion.  Best part?  We got 4 chairs for 20 bucks!!  I love a good bargain.  Then we decided navy blue would add a nice pop of color that wasn’t too “in your face”.  This was such a simple DIY that you can customize to any color palette in any room.  Now for the how to>

First buy some chairs.

Then pop out the cushion.

Then remove the layer of fabric that is on the cushion.

Then once you have chosen a fabric, lay the removed fabric on the new fabric like so>

Then trace out the fabric with a pencil.

And cut!

Then place cushions on (in the order they were removed) and use a staple gun to attach new fabric.

As you can see above there is still a layer of fabric on mine.  There were 2 layers of fabric and the bottom layer had A MILLION tiny staples in it and I was not about to take them all out. As long as you can’t see the the old fabric through the new fabric, this is okay!

Fold, pull tight and staple!

Okay back to the chairs.  First sand each chair.

Then hose them off to get all of that dust removed.

Then let dry and start painting!

Voila! I love how they turned out and we found a perfect white table on craigslist to make this dining table on budget and totally fabulous!
