Let’s talk about cocktails. I love trying new things and making changes to recipes while baking and cooking, but who says it has to stop there? Changing up something classic makes it feel safe yet exciting! Make the same chicken dish all the time? Next time add some paprika and cayenne to spice it up. Or maybe you love your water with a lemon wedge, next time add some herbs like mint or rosemary. It is so simple to change up mundane things if you are willing! Now the classic sidecar cocktail is far from mundane… but I had a bottle of champagne that needed drinking! The mix of brandy, triple sec and lemon juice make a strong and sour drink, so the addition of a bit of champage adds some bubbles and sweetness that make this drink just perfect!
This recipe makes 2 drinks, so if you are making one just cut it in half! First you will need 2 shots of brandy.
Then one shot of triple sec.
Then one shot of fresh squeezed lemon juice.
Mix those up and pour over ice.
Add about 1/4 cup of champagne to each glass.
Garnish with a lemon twist! See below for steps on how to do this.
*To hollow out the lemon, cut both ends off and wedge a spoon between the fruit and the peel. Move the spoon around until the fruit separates and slides out of the lemon.
By pull the twist apart in the last step, not only does it make the spiral shape, but also allows the oils of the lemon to come out and really add something to your cocktail!

- 1.5 oz fresh squeezed lemon juice
- 1/2 cup champagne
- lemon for lemon twist
